Climbing Center – In Use

Connect Challenge Conquer

During an afternoon climbing session, a girl experienced growth in just one hour! On her first climb, she climbed 10 feet and came down. Practicing on the auto belay, she continued to climb between 15 and 20 feet on several attempts.

After one attempt her belayer (the person holding the rope), asked why she did not make it all the way up? Was she tired or afraid? She said she was afraid, but she wanted to make it all the way up anyway. With encouragement and guidance, she succeeded to climb all 28 feet! She learned to be brave in the climbing center. Her smiles showed her joy. In the climbing center we use three words to encourage the climbers.

Connect – Challenge – Conquer
We connect to the rope for safety, we challenge ourselves with good goals, and we strive to conquer these goals. At the close of climbing sessions or classes we talk to the climbers about Connecting to Jesus and each other, Challenging ourselves for maturing in Christ, and becoming Conquerors through Jesus Christ.
