Counselor Story

Amber Counselor Story

This summer was Amber’s 3rd summer on staff, she was hired as a Program Manager. One of her campers, attended in 2021 and returned for 2023. Amber and the camper were bummed but also OK with Amber not being the camper’s Cabin Leader because she was in charge of all the girls programming.

During an afternoon free time, Amber, the camper, and two girls also invited to camp by the camper were all sitting down at the Waterfront. Amber talked to the girls about her relationship with God, this lead to the camper sharing her own relationship story with God. In turn, the two invited friends also wanted to know more about Jesus Christ and the Gospel.

Amber could have walked the two middle school aged girls through the G.O.S.P.E.L. acronym or the Roman’s Road, but instead Amber prompted the camper to do the explaining.

Amber added a few thoughts and details, but it was the camper, a middle school camper who in 2021 was very unsure about her relationship with God, that lead her friends to Christ!

The camper went on to earn our Honor Camper award. We are so proud of her and the journey with Jesus she’s had here! We are also impressed with Amber following the Holy Spirit’s guidance to let the camper be the one to explain the Good News to her friends.

Wow! An adult leading a child to Christ is special, but a camper leading another camper to Christ is on a different level! Praise God!
