Long Lost Friend

Story of a Long Lost Friend

Long Lost Friend

We love listening to guests reminisce when they return to Phantom Ranch after years away. Recently, we met our long lost friend Tim, a former camper and staff member, had not been to camp since 1975! He was a part of a retreat group from Chicago.

Sharing a meal with Tim, his memories flooded back as he described his valuable time at camp. He remembered adventures and people who impacted his life. Looking into the kitchen, he fondly remembered ‘Ma’ Johnson, who volunteered as a cook for many summers.

He recalled the mischievous tradition of stealing the camp bell. He noticed with amusement that the bell is now securely bolted down so removing it now takes power tools.

Tim expressed delight with all the camp improvements and his joy that youth and adults are still experiencing the same transformative power of camp as himself!

Tim, and many more like him, are better followers of Jesus because of their time at camp. Stories like these fill us with the joy of Christ and we hope your personal memories of Phantom Ranch do the same for you!
