Elementary Boys

We call our elementary boys session ROUGHRIDERS — a week designed for young boys to experience the outdoors through unique camp activities, make lifelong friends, and encounter Jesus in a memorable way.

3rd–5th Grade Elementary Boys Camp

We call our elementary boys session ROUGHRIDERS — a week where elementary boys can have fun learning how to make new friends and how to get along with each other. They’ll get to experience horseback riding, archery, indoor rocking climbing and playing alongside their cabin mates and Cabin Leaders at our waterfront and many Phantom Ranch-only games and activities! Roughriders will make memories and friendships they will cherish forever.

The schedule for the week includes both structured and unstructured play. Each cabin is scheduled for specific activities throughout the week and each camper also has opportunities to choose the activities they want to do or camp areas they want to enjoy. Phantom Ranch staff are always present to support campers in their play and interactions with other campers.

The Roughriders session coincides with our elementary girls session. Both session’s schedules overlap at times and also have times where the boys will enjoy camp areas without the girls. Together, they create a balanced and meaningful camp experience for each other. Our staff desire for every camper to feel safe, be supported, and to be connected to each other, the staff, and to God resulting in a sense of true belonging. Phantom Ranch staff actively teach campers how to have fun together and how to treat each other with respect and civility, paying close attention to coed interactions.

Staff Training

All Phantom Ranch staff are carefully screened before being hired. Phantom Ranch offers training in a variety of essential topics, including our Child Protection Policies, Emergency Action Plans, homesickness strategies, responding calmly to dysregulated campers, and many other practical strategies for meeting camper needs.

Our staff training covers the following and more:
  • Trust-Based Relational Intervention
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Active listening
  • Homesickness responses
  • Sharing the Good News of Jesus
  • Child Protection Policies
  • Emergency Action Plans

Because of this training, our staff actively help campers learn how to live in a cabin community, practice respect, and contribute to a fun, welcoming environment for everyone.

Each chapel session is interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate.
Campers will enjoy:
